This 1856 building has innovative architectural features for its construction period: its stone frame allows floor-to-ceiling windows offering maximum natural lighting. It is also one of the oldest surviving examples of this type of construction in the country. The arched windows on the top floor are surmounted by brackets supporting a thick cornice of wood and metal. The warm office spaces have been tastefully restored to preserve the stone walls as well as the exposed wooden beams and columns. The complete restoration of the building of the building was completed in 1982.
